SATANIC AND OCCULTIC IMAGES - SUBLIMINAL FOUND HIDDEN IN WATCHTOWER BOOKS AND MAGAZINES ???
And that's just the reaction from casual observers of the WatchTower Society who are not even JWs. Then, there are diehard Jehovah's Witnesses, who are incensed that anyone would have the gall to even allege such a thing. How could anyone accuse their beloved "Faithful and Discreet Slave" of intentionally inserting obscure satanic imagery, or even subliminals, within the pages of WatchTower publications -- publications whose plain words unquestionably condemn Satan and everything connected with him!!
In the INTRODUCTION, Darek Barefoot states:
"For several years, images, symbols, and figures drawn from witchcraft and Satanism have been surreptitiously incorporated into the Society's books and magazines. This claim may sound improbable, even bizarre, but it can be denied only if the evidence for it is ignored. The people most affected are those who look to the Watchtower Society for spiritual guidance. However, occult influence poses a threat not just to a particular organization, but to society in general. And the danger of blind faith in any institution should make this story of interest to everyone who values honesty and freedom.
"Those who read this account objectively will find that it was not written to disparage Jehovah's Witnesses, the religious group associated with the Watchtower Society. The part of Witness teaching that is sound will not be destroyed by exposing the part that is corrupt. The Witnesses may believe it is wrong to hold their leadership responsible for its actions, but that is not what the Watchtower Society publicly says. ..
"My family and I, who were caught up in the events described in this book, are ourselves witnesses of the God of the Bible, whose name is Jehovah, and of his Son. At a critical moment we declined to cover up a scandalous wrong, and so were accused of betraying the spiritual community to which we belonged. Whether adherence to truth can ever be treasonous or unchristian, I leave it to each reader to decide. Those of us who lived through this dark episode chose to sacrifice the affections of lifelong friends and associates rather than join a conspiracy of silence. But we have not experienced destruction of our faith, nor have we sought to destroy the faith of others. Truth demolishes only sham faith; faith built on self-deception, which is no faith at all."
Jehovah's Witnesses may dismiss this author's claims as the wild imagination of one person and of those he is able to convince, BUT, as this author makes clear, the occultic images and symbols came to his attention only after numerous other JWs started spotting such in 1983, and thereafter. Interestingly, Susan Thorne's autobiography, "Held By The WatchTower" (also sold on this website), also mentions that British JWs also noticed such images, some "subliminal", some not, in the 1980s.
TEST THIS BOOK FOR YOURSELF BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!!
This Book photocopies the involved pages from the involved WatchTower books and magazines, and includes proper citations so that such can be checked out by readers directly from their own WatchTower magazines and books. To test Barefoot's assertions, check the bottom illustration on page 244 of the "LIVE FOREVER" book. That illustration originally depicted a JW couple in their living room, with a very "interesting" decorative item. If your copy of this book shows only a woman in a bathrobe, with the "occultic" item replaced, then you need to check copies at the KH Library, or at your JW friend's home. You should also check the "edition" page in the front of each copy to see that while the illustration changes, no note is made that the book was "revised". You will have to check a minimum of 3 different "editions" to see all the changes. Once you have found the 3 different copies of "LIVE FOREVER", then also check out the illustration of a second JW couple on page 128. Can you spot the "satanic" emblem in that illustration? You will have to check all 3 versions. Now look at page 93. Can you find the "skull"? The "demon"? Now check out the "face tree" on page 134. There are 25+ faces to be found on the trunk and in the branches. (Touch the tips of your thumbs and forefingers together to create a "frame", and vary the size as you move the "frame" over different parts of the tree.) There are many more "subliminals" scattered throughout "LIVE FOREVER", but you have to look closely, and be familiar with occultic imagery. This book is so loaded with "satanism", that the "editors" of this book even got "bold" with the overt illustrations; inserting their own photo on pages 20 & 21. Was it really necessary to make the occultic illustrations on page 97 that large, and that detailed? NO! But once you get started, it is hard to stop.
Barefoot's HOUR OF DARKNESS is also about much more than the question whether occultic images and symbols were deliberately inserted in WatchTower publication illustrations during the 1980s [and if so, whether such were the work of a "loose cannon", (author's opinion) or the work of a "celestial conspiracy" (my opinion)]. HOUR OF DARKNESS is a psychological study of life inside the WatchTower Society, which on one hand publicly professes to be fallible, but on the other hand has an internal authoritarian law enforcement and judicial system which is constantly poised to convict and figuratively "execute" any member who has the audacity to acknowledge even the slightest ongoing WatchTower error. In this author's case, as well as has been repeated many times over, the WatchTower Society will not hesitate to destroy the life of any member who does anything which could possibly damage the WatchTower's public facade of perfection.
From the rear cover:
"The image of a face with flowing hair and beard, resembling a famous statue of the Greek god Zeus ... a triangle containing a black disc, a white crescent ... the portrait of a man with an identifying mark on his body, a mark also worn by the perpetrators of brutal human sacrifices in Matamoros, Mexico ... a chilling message concealed in the words, ...
"These are a few of the clues that led author Darek Barefoot to conclude that occultism was secretly being promoted inside the WatchTower Bible & Tract Society, one of the largest religious publishers in the world and the supreme authority to millions of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide. Barefoot, a third-generation Witness, began his investigation in 1987. Before it was finished, his business office would be searched and his private correspondence stolen, his eleven-year marriage would be destroyed, and he along with five members of his family would be formally condemned and shunned by fellow Witnesses, including relatives and life-long friends. As a warning not only against the occult but also against spiritual tyranny, Jehovah's Witnesses and the Hour of Darkness reaches beyond one religious organization, and speaks to the most fundamental issues of truth, reason, and the demands of Christian faith.
SO THEN, WHY WOULD SATANIC IMAGERY BE HIDDEN IN THE VERY SAME WATCHTOWER PUBLICATIONS WHICH DENOUNCE SATAN?
ANSWER: For the very same reason(s) that the WatchTower Society would secretly request to become AN OFFICIAL UNITED NATIONS AFFILIATE, while at the same time WatchTower publications are denouncing the UNITED NATIONS, and the religious organizations who officially affiliated themselves with the UN, as being tools of Satan.
Deception and being underestimated have been two of Satan's most effective tools since the beginning of his rebellion against the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Satan's many "generals" have each been given individual assignments which are designed to attract and/or deceive humans into being on Satan's side at the only time it really counts; at the time when Satan and Jesus Christ finally square off.
Whether hidden subliminals are somehow able to subvert the subconscious mind of humans is not their main reason for being there. If subliminals are able to subvert the human mind, that would be merely "icing on the cake". Hidden satanic imagery functions as a "signal" to those who are looking for such "signals". For such current "watchers", it lets those "persons" know who really is in fact behind an organization that publicly fronts as "anti-Satan". For future "watchers", the imagery functions as "historical proof" as to who's side the organization was really on all along.
Interestingly, over 100 years ago, WatchTower founder Charles Taze Russell included this letter from one of his followers in the July 1, 1897 issue of his WATCH TOWER Magazine:
One of the simple modern devices for awakening interest and leading on to fuller "mediumship," "possession" and "control," is described in a letter just received, dated March 11, '97, from a Christian lady, a school teacher in Georgia, and a deeply interested student of God's plan of the ages. The writer says:--
" ... My husband's brother is a Spiritualist, Some time ago he bought a Psychograph, an instrument used by mediums for communing with spirits, but he could not use it.
"A few days ago it was placed in my hands, and, as I found I was a medium, I resolved to "try the spirits." ... When asked what he (a demon) wished to say he cited us to Titus 3:5, said MILLENNIAL DAWN doctrine is true, ...
"The next day I tried the wheel or Psychograph again, and was told that a dear good friend of mine who had lived in speaking distance of me for several years was talking to me. ... She (another demon) said she regretted that she had not given DAWN the attention that I had wished her to, ... one claiming to be Eastman ... One claiming to be Cephas ... Another, claiming to be my father ... all (demons) professed to believe in Christ and that DAWN is a correct exponent of God's Word, ... "
In the very next issue of the WATCH TOWER magazine, Russell included a second similar letter:
Another letter received recently from Florida, from a brother in Christ, a WATCH TOWER reader, well educated in several languages, informs us concerning some peculiar experiences recently had with these "seducing spirits." He became aware of the presence of invisible spirit beings, and they (demons) seemed to manifest a curious interest in his work: he was translating MILLENNIAL DAWN into a foreign language.
In reply to those who wonder why some ex-JWs proactively deny the presence of occult subliminal imagery in WatchTower publications just as vehemently as do active JWs, I obviously cannot know every thought process. I do know that some ex-JWs refuse to acknowledge this "satanic" imagery, because to acknowledge such requires them to acknowledge the existence of a devil; which they deny, just as they deny the existence of a God. Unfortunately, disbelief in God and/or hatred of God is one of the most common specifically identified afteraffects of a previous life within a cultic system such as Jehovah's Witnesses. Atheistic and agnostic former cult members refuse to acknowledge this phenomenon which results in the cult continuing to control and destroy their lives. Satan wins either way. He wins if they are a Christ-hating Jehovah's Witness. He wins if they stop being a JW, but then turn into a God-hater.
